Our Covid-19 Response

Covid-19 has changed the way that everyone does business.  Below is a guide to how things have changed for us, our tenants and our landlords, and what we are doing to manage the changes.

At Grants Real Estate we are up to date with the latest changes to legislation as they occur.  Because it is all new territory there are bound to be some new scenarios that arise and we will respond to these on a case-by-case basis.  We are members of the REIQ, who were a key party in negotiating and drafting the new temporary legislation so that it is fair to both landlords and tenants alike.  If there are any tricky questions or issues that arise relating to the new legislation, the REIQ property management specialist team are just a phone call or email away for its members, to assist with any questions.


We understand that both landlords and tenants alike are experiencing hardship during these times and we are here to assist in a compassionate way.  


Our procedures have changed to allow tenants to minimise contact with our  agency if required.  We are allowing tenants the option to complete virtual routine inspections via an app.  We have updated our software to allow for electronic signing of lease renewals.  We adhere to the government's laws surrounding open homes, ensuring that we collect the contact details for everyone present, have everyone sign a register upon entry, only allow a certain number of people per square meter to enter the home, and provide hand sanitizer for everyone in attendance.


 There has been a bit of movement in the rental market since the Covid-19 lockdowns first started back in February.  People have been relocating, downsizing etc. However the market in the area remains steady; we have had no difficulty in locating new tenants and filling vacancies, as there have been plenty of people looking for rental properties in recent months.  In our local area of Brisbane North West and surrounding suburbs, we are finding that rents are remaining quite steady.
